What is Reiki? Reiki is a universal life energy. When a practitioner receives a Reiki attunement it is a long blast of symbols and photonic light that the person receives. The receiver is then able to tune in and allow the Reiki energy to be shared through intention to you. I call this the photonic light blast. Reiki has it’s own intelligence that turns on when it is called for subconsciously or when asked consciously. Reiki can seep out of every cell of your being and be projected into the area requested or subconsciously desired. An example might be that there was an accident and many people were upset and harmed. The electromagnetic energy of emotions that are lingering from an event would cause imbalanced sense of something isn’t right. A Reiki practitioner would probably have the Reiki turn on or would direct it to clear the space and rebalance the energy by the very nature of being present in that space. How can you utilize Reiki for your self healing or friends? Reiki can be used to clear spaces in your home or in your body. Reiki level two and up can use symbols which will allow distance healing. Some people will do Reiki over the phone or have a time of an event and have Reiki sent to them that was scheduled before or ahead the time requested Reiki is based on intentions and direction. Some people come in and say “I want Reiki” and sometimes without any direction. People want to try it without intention, thats okay but it’s way better with goals in mind. Everyone does Reiki differently. Some may cut cords that no longer serve you, balance your chakras, send love, and more. Let’s say your heart is broken and you want to heal and let go of the pattern. Reiki can do that. You may have a pain in your bones you can’t explain or a stuck energy that other bodywork isn’t allowing it to release. It may be in your subtle body. The practitioner works with your aura and your physical body and can intend to release stagnant pain in your knee or wherever. You may simply want more love and affection. It can promote creativity, clarity, release blockages, increase positive thinking. Relieve symptoms of respiratory and digestive issues and increase immune system function. When you create a strong intention within you we can even get down to the root of it and relieve it. You can leave a session with the lesson that caused the issue. Issues do come back; understanding why you feel a certain way by obtaining the lesson can resolve many future issues. You could say to a practitioner “I have confidence issues in my belly or some body part and I am ready to let go of this heavy weight and love myself for where I am; not for how I use to feel, please help me.” Sometimes we create heavy self hate patterns then they are stuck in us. Yes working on the adhesions and trigger points to release pain helps. Some times you need more energy in a way that is often difficult to ask for. Those of you who have had my bodywork know that I put a lot of love into my massage, sometimes Reiki does turn on sometimes other universal light work that I’m naturally attuned with turns on. Reiki or energy work is a great terminology to use for when life gets rough and you need a little pick me up either in a real hard core way or a simple balancing. We can work together or if you look into any other wellness center or other massage therapists, psychologists, psychics, and wellness people many of them are also Reiki attuned. You can find us anywhere. I personally love when clients tell me whats really going on and what they desire. I love to give affirmations that fit to the situation and sometimes guided meditations that fit you. I usually tune into it as we are talking and we are opening up and allowing and asking for healing. I can create a visualization, sometimes a whole journey or simply an affirmation while I am using the Reiki to keep you focused that you can keep. Some people fall asleep and that’s okay. I feel that Reiki is an active healing process. Sometimes we need to leave our body and go into a deep trance while work is being done. How ever you return to balance; active or in trance is what is perfect for you. How many sessions do I need? You may need one or two or you may need several. If you know you have a long term chronic issue you would like to address. We can set up twice a week or once a week or several times a week and then only once a week after. It is entirely up to you and how you feel it is helping. You can share your schedule with me and I can help you determine a time if you need that kind of scheduling assistance along with reminders. Getting Reiki Level 1 attuned was the best year of my life. Having the personal gift to tune into this light and use it anytime for anything. I would use it when I bumped into something and left an achy feeling, got burned, a friend was hurt or to relieve root cause issues stuck in my tissues. I could direct it and use as much or as little as I desired and play with it. It’s a high vibrational infinite light medicine. I love Reiking my food and water. If animals allow it and want it, it’s great for that too! Sometime I reiki the sky and the earth. When you choose to receive from others. My price with all bodywork besides travel fees is $1.00 a minute. That may be the same in other wellness centers or it may be higher. Some people charge $500 or more for an attunement. It fluxuates. Some people may offer attunements that are different. I received Reiki 2 twice because my I prefered being attuned by a specific teacher. At some point maybe this year I will be attuned at a master level and I can gift you the experience of being attuned through me at a price you can afford or based on suggested donations. I hope to start a Reiki and light work circle soon. Please let me know if you are interested to come to that. Everyone has healing light within them and the ability to create intentions. You can activate yours any time. Reiki is different and specific unlike many other energy systems out there. It is unique in its’ frequency it creates. The universal symbols that belong to the Reiki system feel differently when attuned to it rather than playing with the symbols without being attuned. It is a special experience worth experiencing especially those of you who are on the self healing warrior path. When you are ready to receive Reiki from me or be Reiki attuned and want a referral from me for a Reiki master or want to wait for me to be one, please ask me!! Please ask me any questions you have. I am happy to answer any and all. May love and light surround you through all your struggles and joys!

I want to introduce myself a bit as many of you may not be aware of the full capacity of services that I am here to offer you. I consider myself an Intuitive Holistic Massage Practitioner of 10 years. What does that really mean? Its my gift to soothe, create balance, and provide any care for any suffering or stagnancies you are experiencing in your body. The main modalities I choose to apply are a mixture of Deep Tissue (Neuromuscular), Trigger point, Myofascial Release, Swedish, Reflexology, Cranial Sacral,Che Nei Sung, Cupping, and Reiki. Some say my hands are magnets. I find the places that hurt and tune them into balance. I am very intuitive by nature and can tune into your areas of distress very easily. I like to work based on intentions such as clearing, increasing your cellular powerhouse, increasing dopamine, increasing oxytocin. Massage balances all the neurochemicals. Goodbye adrenal fatigue, hello grounding, injury rehabilitation, releasing pain, and goodbye anxiety, negative feelings, tension, achy, sore, and stressed feelings and connections. Simply the intention could be to maintain balance, alignment, feel good, to be loved and to be held by my professional hands. I see you as whole and I am here to help you align to your best self through body care and self love. It isn't a one session fix it. I am not here to fix you. I am here to guide you and help you along your path to balance by sharing my massage tools and tips to assist you into healthy patterns. I have a very different approach than many therapists. I like to use Tuning Forks. These tuning forks help your body release emotional charge stuck in your tissues. You may not be aware of these issues in your tissues and how they manifest themselves. I can feel how your trigger points hold, how sticky they are, how long it takes to release one and if my holds on your trigger points are not enough. I simply use a tuning fork that discharges and tunes into that energy. I can feel the trigger point and adhesions disappear. There are many trigger points on every layer of muscle. There could be several trigger points on the same location on different muscles. When you can't handle that deep pressure because it hurts and it doesn't hurt so good. These tuning forks take away that pain. Its really transmuting your pain into a natural harmonic frequency. All of a sudden you can handle deep tissue. One trigger point released in one muscle has its own set of triggers that keeps that trigger point from turning on or off again. It's a game to me to figure out the push pull of the muscles to find the other layer of trigger points to release. Sometimes it isn't deep at all the pain that hurts. It can often be very superficial tissue where that trigger point exists and deep tissue may not assist in the way many have experienced it. It turns into a myofascial experience. I will be writing an article soon to send out to help facilitate this understanding more. The important part of understanding this for now is that there are many ways I can facilitate the release of these patterns through pressures that you can handle so it is a feel good experience all around with the after feelings and alignment that will last as long as you let it. Don't worry I don't go on and on during a normal massage session. Everyone experiences healing differently some love to talk and others really want the time to not think and totally relax. I completely respect this. I usually don't get into these details unless you ask and even then we only have so much time to connect due to how most centers and businesses operate in the massage field. This is what sets me aside from other practitioners. I am willing to set time with you to discuss what matters. I can only do this in my home and mobile practice. I would like to send you monthly newsletters and articles about massage, breathing awareness, stretching, meditations, and self care with nutrition, self massage, and movement. If there is anything you would like to know more about please ask me and I will surely share this information in a fun way. I am hoping to work toward video communication for specific stretches and meditations you request. Please send me requests for what you would like to learn about! I will send a series of videos I think will help you understand the subject or design one for you.
Benefits of MassageI couldn’t have said it better myself. I kept thinking I need to come up with FAQs about massage. Really there are some amazing writers who can put it to words more efficiently than I could. Here ya go:
As you lie on the table under crisp, fresh sheets, hushed music draws you into the moment. The smell of rose fills the air and you hear the gentle sound of massage oil being warmed in your therapist’s hands. The pains of age, the throbbing from your overstressed muscles, the sheer need to be touched — all cry out for therapeutic hands to start their work. Once the session gets underway, the problems of the world fade into an oblivious 60 minutes of relief and all you can comprehend right now is not wanting it to end. But what if that hour of massage did more for you than just take the pressures of the day away? What if that gentle, Swedish massage helped you combat cancer? What if bodywork helped you recover from a strained hamstring in half the time? What if your sleep, digestion and mood all improved with massage and bodywork? What if these weren’t just “what ifs”? Evidence is showing that the more massage you can allow yourself, the better you’ll feel. Here’s why. Massage as a healing tool has been around for thousands of years in many cultures. Touching is a natural human reaction to pain and stress, and for conveying compassion and support. Think of the last time you bumped your head or had a sore calf. What did you do? Rubbed it, right? The same was true of our earliest ancestors. Healers throughout time and throughout the world have instinctually and independently developed a wide range of therapeutic techniques using touch. Many are still in use today, and with good reason. We now have scientific proof of the benefits of massage – benefits ranging from treating chronic diseases and injuries to alleviating the growing tensions of our modern lifestyles. Having a massage does more than just relax your body and mind – there are specific physiological and psychological changes which occur, even more so when massage is utilized as a preventative, frequent therapy and not simply mere luxury. Massage not only feels good, but it can cure what ails you. The Consequences of Stress Experts estimate that 80 percent to 90 percent of disease is stress-related. Massage and bodywork is there to combat that frightening number by helping us remember what it means to relax. The physical changes massage brings to your body can have a positive effect in many areas of your life. Besides increasing relaxation and decreasing anxiety, massage lowers your blood pressure, increases circulation, improves recovery from injury, helps you to sleep better and can increase your concentration. It reduces fatigue and gives you more energy to handle stressful situations. Massage is a perfect elixir for good health, but it can also provide an integration of body and mind. By producing a meditative state or heightened awareness of living in the present moment, massage can provide emotional and spiritual balance, bringing with it true relaxation and peace. The incredible benefits of massage are doubly powerful if taken in regular “doses.” Dr. Maria Hernandez-Reif, from the Touch Research Institute (TRI) at the University of Miami, is known for her massage research, along with colleague Tiffany Field. Together, they and other researchers have done outstanding work proving the value of massage. While their studies have shown we can benefit from massage even in small doses (15 minutes of chair massage or a half-hour table session), Hernandez-Reif says they know from their research that receiving bodywork 2-3 times a week is highly beneficial. And if we lived in a fantasy world, Hernandez-Reif has the answer. “I feel a daily massage is optimal.” It’s undoubtedly a wonderful thing when your therapist begins unwinding those stress-tightened muscles, and your day’s troubles begin to fade away. But it’s the cherry on top to know this “medicine” only gets better with frequency. What You Already Know: The Benefits of Massage In an age of technical and, at times, impersonal medicine, massage offers a drug-free, non-invasive and humanistic approach based on the body’s natural ability to heal itself. So what exactly are the benefits to receiving regular massage and/or bodywork treatments? - Increases circulation, allowing the body to pump more oxygen and nutrients into tissues and vital organs. - Stimulates the flow of lymph, the body’s natural defense system, against toxic invaders. For example, in breast cancer patients, massage has been shown to increase the cells that fight cancer. - Increased circulation of blood and lymph systems improves the condition of the body’s largest organ – the skin. - Relaxes and softens injured and overused muscles - Reduces spasms and cramping - Increases joint flexibility. - Reduces recovery time, helps prepare for strenuous workouts and eliminates subsequent pains of the athlete at any level. - Releases endorphins – the body’s natural painkiller – and is being used in chronic illness, injury and recovery from surgery to control and relieve pain. - Reduces post-surgery adhesions and edema and can be used to reduce and realign scar tissue after healing has occurred. - Improves range-of-motion and decreases discomfort for patients with low back pain. - Relieves pain for migraine sufferers and decreases the need for medication. - Provides exercise and stretching for atrophied muscles and reduces shortening of the muscles for those with restricted range of motion. - Assists with shorter labor for expectant mothers, as well as less need for medication, less depression and anxiety, and shorter hospital stays. Other Body Therapies Swedish: is a vigorous system of treatment designed to energize the body by stimulating circulation. Many benefits of Swedish massage may include generalized relaxation, dissolution of scar tissue adhesions, and improved circulation, which may speed healing and reduce swelling from injury Deep Tissue: Techniques that utilize deep-tissue/deep-muscle massage are administered to affect the sub-layer of musculature and fascia Myofascial: Myofascial release is the three-dimensional application of sustained pressure and movement into the fascial system in order to eliminate fascial restrictions.. Myofascial release is an effective therapeutic approach in the relief of cervical pain, back pain, fibromyalgia, scoliosis, neurological dysfunction, restriction of motion, chronic pain, and headaches Trigger Point: These points are defined as localized areas in which the muscle and connective tissue are highly sensitive to pain when compressed. Pressure on these points can send referred pain to other specific parts of the body. Treatment consists of trigger point compression, myomassage, passive stretching, and a regime of corrective exercises. Success may be measured subjectively by the level of pain reduction experienced by the client and objectively through increased range of motion, strength, endurance, and other measures of improved function. Foot Reflexology: Based on an ancient Chinese therapy, reflexology involves manipulation of specific reflex areas in the foot, hands, and ears that correspond to other parts of the body., this bodywork involves application of pressure to these reflex zones to stimulate body organs and relieve areas of congestion. This technique is used to reduce pain, increase relaxation, and stimulate circulation of blood and lymphatic fluids. Acupressure: Acupressure is an ancient healing art that uses the fingers to press key points on the surface of the skin to stimulate the body’s natural self-curative abilities. When these points are pressed, they release muscular tension and promote the circulation of blood and the body’s life force (sometimes known as qi or chi) to aid healing. Acupuncture and acupressure use the same points, but acupuncture employs needles, while acupressure uses the gentle, but firm pressure of hands and feet. Acupressure can be effective in helping relieve headaches, eye strain, sinus problems, neck pain, backaches, arthritis, muscle aches, tension due to stress, ulcer pain, menstrual cramps, lower backaches, constipation, and indigestion. Self-acupressure can also be used to relieve anxiety and improve sleep. There are also great advantages to using acupressure as a way to balance the body and maintain good health. The healing touch of acupressure reduces tension, increases circulation, and enables the body to relax deeply. Lymphatic Drainage: Lymph Drainage Therapy (LDT) is unique in that healthcare professionals learn how to palpate the lymphatic flow. As they develop their skills, they can then identify the rhythm, direction, and quality of the lymphatic flow. The strokes applied in manual lymph drainage are intended to stimulate the movement of the lymphatic fluids in order to assist the body in cleansing. This is a gentle, rhythmical technique that cleanses the connective tissue of inflammatory materials and toxins, enhances the activity of the immune system, reduces pain, and lowers the activity of the sympathetic nervous system. Cranial Sacral: Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, noninvasive method of evaluating and enhancing the function of a physiological body arrangement called the craniosacral system. Developed by John E. Upledger, DO, OMM, this manual therapy enhances the body’s natural healing processes and has proven effective in treating a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction. The roots of this therapy are in cranial osteopathy, developed by Dr. William G. Sutherland. The craniosacral system consists of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. It extends from the bones of the skull, face, and mouth--which make up the cranium--down to the sacrum or tailbone. Since this system influences the development and function of the brain and spinal cord, any imbalance or dysfunction in the craniosacral system could cause sensory, motor, or neurological disabilities. These problems may include chronic pain, eye difficulties, scoliosis, motor-coordination impairments, learning disabilities, and other dysfunctions of the central nervous system. Craniosacral therapy encourages the body’s natural healing mechanisms to improve the functioning of the central nervous system, dissipate the negative effects of stress, and enhance health and resistance to disease. The craniosacral therapy practitioner uses a light touch to assist the natural movement of fluid within the craniosacral system. Therapists generally use only five grams of pressure, roughly the weight of a nickel, to test for restrictions in various parts of the craniosacral system EARTH ENERGY HEALING: Similar to Reiki, as it is the channeling of energy and entails laying on of the hands. FOUR-HAND MASSAGE This therapy requires two practitioners to simultaneously massage the client’s left and right sides, making sure to mimic the other’s motions and to exert equal pressure for a balanced experience. GUIDED IMAGERY Also known as visualization, guided imagery is a relaxation system utilizing imagination and thoughts to improve one’s physical, mental, and emotional health. Often involving a process of listening to music or a person’s voice, the participant can take hold of imagery, symbols, and deep feelings to stimulate the body’s immune system, fight disease, and improve overall health. Many seriously ill patients use this technique to imagine the destruction of their disease and/or disorder. HEALING SOUNDS This practice uses sound to create balance and alignment in the physical body, the energy centers (chakras), and/or the etheric fields. It is a vibration applied by an instrument or the human voice and can be understood as a field of energy medicine. The primary question in this field is: What are the correct resonant frequencies of the body? INTUITIVE WORK Intuitive work is a way of incorporating the perceived and received information that extends beyond the five senses, transcending what is considered ordinary thinking patterns and reasoning processes. The four main media by which intuitives receive and perceive information are clairsentience; clairvoyance; clairaudience; and knowingness--impression or inspirational thought. The challenge for bodyworkers is how to respectfully incorporate intuition into their work while demonstrating responsibility/respect to the client. While the science aspect of bodywork focuses on the technique of touch (information accessed through the left hemisphere of the brain), the art aspect of bodywork focuses on how to touch with care and sensitivity (information accessed through the right hemisphere of the brain). As obvious tools for listening, hands touch with the intent to hear and see--information accessed through the temporal lobe. These three parts of the neurological system are considered the intuitive network. REIKI HEALING--USUI SYSTEM Reiki healing is a hands-on energy healing art. It was originated in Japan in the early 20th century by Mikao Usui, who had a life-changing experience of light and energy that he recognized as reiki--sacred life force--and that awakened his innate healing abilities. He developed a system of practices that enabled others to become effective healers. In a reiki healing session, the practitioner, trained to access and serve as a channel for the life force (ki or chi), places her hands on or just above the client’s body in order to activate healing energy within receptive points on the body. The practitioner’s hands move progressively with a passive touch through twelve positions on the body, remaining in each position for three to five minutes. As a harmonic flow of energy is strengthened, within the client and practitioner, healing occurs through the return of physical, mental, and spiritual balance The Need for Touch As a society, we are touch deprived and this can lead to disease or emotional dysfunction. From the cradle to the nursing home, tactile stimulation and the emotional assurance of caring touch bring about a sense of well-being and security. In numerous studies conducted on massage for infants, TRI researchers have found improved weight gain and development in pre-term infants, improved weight gain and motor behavior in cocaine-exposed infants, and improved weight gain and decreased stress behavior in HIV-exposed infants. Full-term infants also benefit with increased alertness and social behavior, less crying and increased weight gain. http://www.massagetherapy.com/articles/index.php?article_id=468 |
